Market Summary Released for October 1, 2012

by Michelle Tham, Director of Analytics

Crude oil saw little overall change last week, although prices held on to a significant drop from the week before. Oil prices fell during the first half of the week on bearish sentiments about the state of the American and European economies. However, prices recovered over the latter half as tensions about Iran's nuclear capabilities increased. Natural gas climbed to the highest price in 2012 last week. Near-term forecasts called for lingering cooling demand along the East Coast at a time when natural gas is increasingly used for electricity generation.
