by Meghan Nee and Michelle Tham, Analysts

Synopsis of Last Week's Energy Markets

WTI crude climbed about $2 per barrel for the prompt month for a second week of advances, wavering around $100 for the past three weeks. A decline in stocks at Cushing drove up prices at the beginnning of the week, although total US stocks posted another gain. Brent also gained last week as Russian officials warned of civil war in Ukraine. Natural gas prices fell to a six-week low at the start of the week on forecasts for milder temperatures, but climbed on Thursday on news of a lower than estimated stockpile gain. The June contract fell on Friday to settle at $4.41 per MMBtu.
