Market Summary for the Week of April 28 - May 2, 2014

by Michelle Tham, Director of Analytics

Synopsis of Last Week's Energy Markets

WTI came down last week as the EIA reported a fourth week of gains in total US crude stocks, which are at an eighty-year high.  Supplies at Cushing, Oklahoma are still trending down.  On the bullish side, clashes in eastern Ukraine continue to bolster crude prices worldwide.  Natural gas prices climbed to a two-month high at the start of the week, on speculation that lingering cold could slow stockpiling.  Prices dropped Wednesday and continued to fall through Friday, as Thursday's EIA report showed an above average gain for the week ended April 25.
