Account Management/Business Development Associate - Western Massachusetts

A dynamic and quickly growing company - Competitive Energy Service (CES) - is currently seeking an energetic Associate to join our Account Management & Business Development team. The Account Management/Business Development Associate will be responsible for assisting Senior Account Managers with all aspects of the customer management, energy analysis and new business development process. There is much room for growth in this position. You will have the opportunity to:

The position is full-time and based out of Western Massachusetts.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Work closely with senior Account Managers on all aspects of client deliverables and attend customer meetings.
  • Assist Business Development Team with everything from daily tasks to strategic initiatives.
  • Work with senior Account Managers to model energy usage and cost data & evaluate complex onsite energy projects for the purpose of presenting conclusions to customers
  • Respond and communicate with customers via phone, email and meetings
  • Development of skills for managing a portfolio of customers and prospects

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • A passion for learning and interest in the energy sector.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Strong in-person, phone and written customer communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.
  • Strong PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications;

Must be able to travel, primarily in southern New England and New York.

Pricing Associate

ABOUT CES

Competitive Energy Services, LLC (CES), a dynamic and growing energy services firm, is seeking an energetic Associate to join our Pricing Team.  Pricing Associates work closely with the Business Development team to assist clients with their energy procurement needs.  Each Pricing Associate manages a queue of pricing assignments and is responsible for all activities required to prepare timely and accurate pricing information as well as facilitate contracts. This position requires communication by phone and email with utilities, suppliers and clients about all aspects of client accounts, pricing, procurement status and contracts.  There is much room for growth in this position.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Request energy usage and account information from clients and utilities
  • Enter usage and account data into proprietary databases and other web based software programs
  • Prepare bid forms and send to suppliers
  • Enter bid data into database and generate analysis
  • Facilitate contract process between suppliers and clients
  • Update and maintain customer and supplier databases
  • Update and maintain CES’s electronic client files
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • A passion for learning and interest in the energy section
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in procurement and/or the energy field
  • Must be detailed, organized and skillful at managing multiple assignments in varying stages of completion while maintaining accuracy through the procurement process
  • Must enjoy working with numbers and spreadsheets
  • Positive, self-motivated attitude
  • Must be able to stay organized in high pressure situations
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, manage time effectively, collaborate with a team and be self-motivated.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, with very strong Microsoft Excel skills

Energy Analyst

Competitive Energy Services, LLC (CES) is an established energy services firm that advises the commercial, industrial, institutional and non-profit sectors in procuring electricity, natural gas, propane, residual oil, heating oil, biofuels and green power supply.  In addition to providing procurement options, CES offers a broad variety of strategic energy management services such as budgeting and forecasting, risk assessment and management, cogeneration and renewable energy generation feasibility studies, fuel conversion analyses, utility tariff negotiations, demand response analyses and carbon footprint reduction.

GENERAL DUTIES

Initial responsibilities include the following:

  • Modeling of gas and electric consumption and utility rate tariffs.
  • Forecasting customer budgets and preparing energy use projections.
  • Reviewing utility and supplier invoices.
  • Energy bid administration as needed.
  • Creation and management of spreadsheets with market pricing and customer usage data.
  • Assistance in evaluation of energy markets and preparation of weekly client newsletter.
  • Assisting in fuel-switching analysis.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of fuel arbitrage strategies.
  • Preparation of reports, presentations and other client deliverables.
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients and competitive energy suppliers.
  • Greenhouse gas accounting and sustainability planning.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, engineering, math, computer science, economics, or other technical undergraduate programs.
  • Energy industry experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Programming and database management is a plus.
  • Creative and analytical thinker with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload with flexibility.

Data Analyst

GENERAL DUTIES

CES is seeking a Data Analyst to administer several products which track our clients’ energy usage and cost.  Initial responsibilities include the following:

  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for CES Variance Tracker and Solar Audit
  • Maintaining the quality of data sets used in reporting
  • Auditing utility, supply, and solar invoices
  • Troubleshooting questions with clients
  • Facilitate communication with utilities, suppliers, and solar developers on behalf of clients
  • Assist in the collection and organization of regularly published data sets such as utility tariffs, default rates, weather data, and other energy related data.
 
The Data Analyst may also have an opportunity to assist in further development of the Variance Tracker and Solar Audit products. Additional responsibilities include assisting account analysts with research or data management related tasks.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Detail Oriented, enjoy working with numbers/statistics
  • Adapt to a flexible, fast-paced work environment
  • Positive, self-motivated attitude
  • Programming and database management is a plus, but not required
